On January 2nd (2010), I received the one holiday card I wait for each year, from my delightful and irascible friend, a wonderful writer, who lives her life to the fullest, with attitude. I want to quote from it:
“What can I say about 2009? It was a horrid year of financial fear but I treaded through without stealing, cheating or committing any crime. Quite a feat! So, for 2010, I am adopting a daily mantra, ‘What are you grateful for?’”
Following her lead, I suggest we all do the same. Please let me know the things that make you grateful. To begin, here is my list. I am grateful ~
That my beloved husband is with me every day, all day, these past 10 years and into the far future.
That I am healthy and strong and that my energy sustains me through every day, the gym days, the long work days and the sleep-in-the-sun-with-a-good-book days.
That technology and exercise can enhance so much of my health, my mobility and my senses with simple tools that never before existed.
That my entrepreneur clients, despite the economy, are courageous, intelligent and building the next new thing, undaunted.
That my friendships last for decades, creating a common history of shared experiences, and allowing us to witness one another with a depth known only over time.
That my extended family is filled with smart, creative 20-somethings off on their best adventures, fearless and happy.
That the Chinese ancients promise that we will live to 120, and only reach “adult” status at the mid-point, at which time we are free again to pursue our personal path. Can’t wait.
I wish you all a new year filled with wonder, adventures, memories and gratitude.
